Our profile

Welcome to the world of tomorrow

The name Stepping Stones means "Stones placed in a river to allow pedestrians to cross". We guide children in crossing over into the world of tomorrow. A world that is changing at an unprecedented rate, internationalising and in which technological developments follow each other ever faster. This has a huge impact on the way we live, learn and communicate.

Stepping Stones is a school where everyone counts, in an atmosphere of warmth. And where everyone knows each other: pupils, teachers and parents. We attach great importance to the way we treat each other. Respect and understanding for others is the basis of our actions and contributes to the international orientation we give our pupils.

Our core values

At Stepping Stones we operate on the basis of the following five core values:

  • Attention: At Stepping Stones, we pay attention to each pupil and to each other (teachers, parents, pupils). We encourage pupils to pay attention to social issues at local (school, neighbourhood and city), regional, national and global level (global citizenship).
  • Curiosity: Curiosity drives development. At Stepping Stones, we stimulate pupils' curiosity by providing a curriculum that challenges them to ask questions and explore on their own.
  • Responsibility: Living, and therefore learning, is not something you do alone. At Stepping Stones, everyone is aware of the responsibility they have for themselves (developmentally appropriate ownership of your behaviour) and for the well-being of others (fellow pupils/ colleagues, your group/ team and the school). We also address each other about our responsibilities in a respectful manner.
  • Trust: At our school you are allowed to be who you are, want to be and become. We have confidence in the capacities and development opportunities of each other (colleagues) and our pupils. We dare to assume the efforts and good intentions of everyone and create a learning environment in which everyone accepts and challenges themselves and others to develop their talents.
  • Dare: We dare to be ourselves and show what we stand for. We dare to make difficult choices for the sake of our education.
